LOCALS AT CASA LEONARDO
We firmly believe that we can create more positive impact on the environment and people if we work togeher

Casa Leonardo is deeply rooted in community and built to honor the destination itself. Casa Leonardo focuses on the essence, authenticity, and beauty of the place. What makes it unique and special. We honour history, our people and their wisdom.

Our deep, powerful and meaningful experiences are unique to time and place are harmonious with the natural environment, history, culture, and community fabric.
We show sound ethical values in every experience, taking into account the wellbeing of communities and ecosystems of which we are a part.

Our regenerative hotel identify the challenges faced by local communities and
environments, actively work to address them, and empower others to do the same.

Moreover, there is an effort to reduce or eliminate their CO2 emissions, use renewable energy sources, grow their food, and teach guests to inspire a mindset change.

Our belief: We all have the power to do good

We build relationships with our local business community.

Support local economies
We source locally both labour and resources improving the local economy and stimulateing growth. It’s our standard in order to reduce our carbon footprint as we minimise our use of delivery or transportation costs.

We help promote local talent and produce. We showcase local art or homewares in our property and we can serve and sell local artisan fare that is significant or unique to your region.

We support community events. We contribute to community events and projects and get involved in the promotion of these through our own channels.

We invest in Gratitud Pallars local projects making environmental improvements. The travel and tourism industry is reliant on the quality of the surrounding environment. So investing in reducing your environmental impact is beneficial for all involved.

Our hotel allows you to discover our region in a more authentic way by living like a local.

My family has lived in Pallars for generations and the last three generations have run Casa Leonardo so we are deeply rooted in our land, we love it and we want to share our traditions with all of you.

You will experience our culture through the decoration and musealisation of Casa Leonardo itself, the different meals, the conversations that we will exchange and the activities and visits that we will recommend.

At Casa Leonardo you will also find our community.

Our home is a social hub for the local community and stays open all-year-round to offer services to our neighborhood and you will meet them on the bar-cafe or terrace, where you eat local products and drink from de porró  together and discover more about our culture, each other and other people’s way of living.

Travel mindfully and responsibly

Consider off-beat travel to lesser-known destinations, support locally, and be conscious of your impact.

Our regenerative hotel is creating positive sustainable change

Casa Leonardo is a family-run hotel where sustainability and consistency are a matter of the heart. We are continuously investing and innovating in areas wherever needed—never losing sight of their self-proclaimed duty of protecting the environment.

Tourism in the world as we know it today is highly destructive.

Overtourism places such massive pressure on the local populations and the environment that soon there will be irrevocable damage to the places we love.

But the good news is that we can do better.

We can achieve a sustainable tourism model that takes into account tourist satisfaction while prioritizing the environment, communities, and the economy.

So how do we combat this?

For starters, we can travel to less-visited destinations around the world. And if you come to Catalonia, look beyond Barcelona. Here in the Pallars is where locals from Barcelona come to enjoy the mountains, nature and gastronomy.

We encourage you to explore more off-the-beaten-track!

We lead by example!

  • We support local. Instead of giving your money to the $ giants, we support our local shops, farms, vendors, artisans, etc.
  • We don’t throw out food > We feed animals and we composting.
  • We Avoid single use and cut back on plastic usage
  • We promote carpool, walk, bike, or take public transport to reduce emissions.
  • We work to reduce energy consumption
  • We have introduced practices to decrease water consumption
  • We Digitise the guest experience
  • We encourage our guests to do so as well.

Every choice and action counts.

Spread awareness

While we have to start and lead the sustainable tourism revolution as individuals and in our business, it’s eventually up to governments and policymakers that can enable long-term change on a systematic level.

Casa Leonardo participates in meetings with politicians and technicians to share our concerns and vision of what must be the regenerative tourism of the future.

We promote Sustainable Tourism with our Inner Circle locals and visNos involucramos, donamos y somos voluntarios en Gratitud Pallarsitors.

We share small yet impactful insights about what we care about!

We get involve, donate and volunteer at Gratitud Pallars.

OUR SOCIAL PROJECT
We are giving back to our community

We designed & promoted

EDIBLE SENTERADA

a community food garden

During the COVID 19 Pandemic period, we promoted different meetings with neighbours and the result was the creation of Senterada Municipi Viu i Sostenible Association with the aim of working together in order to promote community resilience and self-sufficiency, to create social business projects, and to empower the population to become a driving force of change. Senterada Comestible is ours first project of agroecology and food sovereignty.

The Hub garden is situated in the centre of the village of Senterada, and is managed by a dedicated group of volunteers in accordance with permaculture principles. The garden is open to the public, and provides an inclusive space for people to connect and learn through topics of food growing, community resilience, and sustainability. The produce from the beds is free for everyone to harvest, promoting the concepts of a sharing economy, and the use of communal land for the production of fresh, local food.
